Put Up Your Keys

I was outside bringing in the groceries DS and I had just brought home. I heard a loud ZAP and a POP, something wasn't right. Mama instinct kicked into high gear and I ran inside to find DS standing on a table, a key from my keychain had been placed in a hole in the back of our electric stove (the top part of the back is exposed to the livingroom area in our tiny apartment). There was soot around the hole the key was in, in the shape of the zap which had occurred when DS put the key into the back of the stove. DS fingers were blackened with soot, but not burned. He must have been holding with his thumb and forefinger to the (lifesaving) rubberized plastic on this key. He had no reaction at all, he looked confused because I was freaking out. The key was still stuck in the back of my stove and my neighbor helped me to remove it. I turned the breaker off. I did a neuro check of DS, listened to his heart - no irregularity whatsoever. I believe someone was watching over him, we are so lucky.

PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE keep your keys out of reach. My little boy could be gone right now.

This is what happened to the key:

More Knitting for the House...

This is Yvonne's Double Flower Cloth. It actually turned-out pretty nice, but it needs to be blocked. Will post another pic post-blocking...

Mindful Crafting...

In the interest of running my home in a manner which is more mindful of our family's ecological footprint, I've knit a cover for my Swiffer :

I did it using plain ol' kitchen cotton and hakucho's Ball Band Mop Cover pattern with alterations to make it a little bigger for a swiffer wetjet. I love it, though I'm not crazy about the idea of making another because the process of knitting this bored me to tears. *lol* Oh, well. I do really like the finished product, though it may not show-up nicely since I just squished it in my scanner for a pic...

Here's the other side:

Lookie What I Squished Into My Scanner

This really makes me laugh. I'm in the process of making a bunch of food items for DS. I also have a pattern for a tea set and a basket of fruit. Heehee!

Mmmm Chocolate...

So I've finally started a project from my Japanese crochet book. This is the beginning of the cake tissue holder in the post below. I found a peeerfect chocolate color. Don't mind the fuzzies, it's been frogged many times and that's the going rate in this house if you're dragging yarn around all the time. This is too fun.

Also, this is the book (heretofore named the Japanese cake book) I'm referring to :
